“The Stuff You Wont Hear Anywhere Else”
President Trump’s proposed cuts to the Environmental Protection Agency seem to be the deepest cuts in his proposed 2018 budget, which proposes a 2.6 billion dollar cut in their budget or a 31% reduction in overall funding of the agency. This proposal would cut 3,200 jobs at the agency, further decreasing the size of Government, and saving hundreds of millions of dollars in Government payroll annually. The proposed budget also will cut all funding for research on climate change. I just heard liberals heads explode! The difference in a conservative verses the liberal approach to the environment is simple a conservative looks for facts in order to come to conclusions, while a liberal bases their conclusions on who donates the most money to them…..or so it seems to me.
The Environmental Protection Agency was founded on December 2nd 1970, and it was created for the purpose of protecting human health and the environment by writing and enforcing regulations based on laws passed by Congress. It was proposed by President Richard Nixon by executive order, and was ratified by committee hearings in the house of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Scott Pruitt is the current Director appointed by the Trump Administration and was approved by Congress on February 21st 2017.
The problem with any Government agency is it always involves politics. In the last five years about 40% of the scientists working for the EPA have reported that they have had experienced political interference. Ok so what does that mean ? Are the results they are publishing tainted by political pressure ? Was the Obama Administration censoring the results to meet their agenda? Those questions can only be answered by insiders with knowledge we do not have access to, but the whole thing stinks to me ! For example in 2015 the Government Accountability Office stated that the EPA violated Federal Law with covert propaganda in their social media platforms, the propaganda was designed to oppose legislative efforts to limit or block a rule opposing the Waters of the United States Rule. This rule is a largely technical document defining which rivers, streams, lakes and marshes fall under the jurisdiction of the Environmental Protection Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers. This rule is strongly opposed by Agriculture, big oil and the home building industries, and all have a strong lobby in Washington D.C.
The Environment is too precious to have politics dictating policy, or the lobbyists in Washington throwing millions of dollars to re-election campaigns so their businesses and politicians get richer and richer, it’s just wrong in my opinion!
In 2016 the Agency had 15,376 full time employees, which about half are scientists, engineers and environmental protection specialists. So that means over 7,000 full time employees are administrative staff. Thats a lot of pork in my opinion to have so many pencil pushers, I would like to see them justify a budget of 8,139,887,000, which is their current budget.
The EPA regulates green house gases, they are especially concerned about climate change. Our atmosphere is composed of approximately 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and carbon dioxide which is a green house gas is comprised of .003%, a tiny amount compared to the others. But without green house gases the temperature on the surface of the Earth would be about -2 degrees fahrenheit, which would mean that no species plant or animal could be able to survive, so we need a certain amount of green house gases to keep our planet habitable.
While the concept of the Environmental Protein Agency was created to preserve human kind and to be kind to our environment, we also need natural resources too, like oil and natural gas to survive. While extracting them is essential, we have to do it in an environmentally conscious method, so our childrens children and future generations can enjoy all that the environment and nature has to offer, and keep the politicians out of the mix, they can screw up a perfect day.
